Misty Morning Dew – Morgondis

The early morning walk is often the most beautiful one. No people, no traffic. Just the birds and me. And Mille and Totti of course. This Saturday I knew would enter the world sunny and calm – without a wind.

I had Hovdala in mind when driving west. Not since autumn had I visited, and this would be a perfect day to enjoy the larks and the view over the lake and the hills.

The morning mist kept the night’s frost glittering, but soft rays of sunshine were sneaking through, turning the grass into a green and white starry sky.

Silence – only a bird or two twittering . Trees become, if possible,  even more beautiful in mist and dew. Some of them magical.

The grass is alive with dew and I…can hardly leave this beauty…

On the other side of the road, the mist is lifting, and I walk the cow trodden paths down to the water.

We drive along the road to reach the viewpoint where the green slopes down to the lake lie bathing in all their morning glory.

Gräset är gnistrande vitt och kallt. Den lilla sädesärlan fladdrar blixtsnabbt mellan tuvorna. Vad hon hittar där är en gåta…

The grass is still crispy white with frosty dew, and the little bird is fluttering quickly between the turfs. What could she find there to eat?

The floating mist is constantly changing and when the sun breaks through, so do the colours. Nature is very much alive even a chilly and calm morning like this.

Finally I can see the lake. The sky is a faint blue and the larks are singing.

On my way down to the tree house, the mist and the dew drops transform the landscape into a dreamy beauty with layers of meadows and trees cresting the clouds higher up.

Walking from the tree house -finally the sun conquers the mist. Just to disappear again. But there is a promise of sun down by the lake.

Sun! By the lake it has been waiting for us. About three hours of delight – a beautiful morning with life at its best. Hope you have enjoyed the walk with me and my dogs.

    • Me too…this morning I was determined as it was the only fine morning in sight. But, last night when I was doing my post I almost fell asleep in my chair – and clicked the wrong button! Instead of saving this I posted it…So, there will be at least five or ten pictures more from this morning. from the top of the mountain to the lake! So, please have another look later on!

      • He, he…no, I’ve started doing that lately. Growing older I guess…I used to wake up my husband when he fell asleep like that – never thinking I once would end up doing the same.

finally finished the post! Hope you will enjoy the sunny ending.

    • They were…we went for a two hour hike in another part of the forest in the afternoon. My mother was a bit exhausted too – but loves that hike.

      • Exactly. I never want to go inside. And I have one week’s vacation now from school because of Easter. I think the students too are very happy with this…they looked as exhausted as I did the last three days. Unfortunately the weather here is very ”April”. We have a saying here: ”April weather”, which means showers, sunshine, mist, snow, wind, sun…

  1. What an amazing portfolio of work here – every photograph is a showstopper. Love the atmosphere that you have captured – I could walk into each of these scenes and feel right at home.

    • Now you made me blush…I’m so happy you enjoyed my morning too. Someone was asking if they were paintings – maybe that’s a piece of the answer to why you like them!?

  2. This is such a beautiful post, filled with misty sunlight and a generous scattering of dew drops. Your photos are stunning, each one a work of art…..and your words sweep me along in a half dream through this enchanted dawn. I really must get up early more often 🙂

    • Lovely comment, Seonaid! Thank you. This was one of the more dreamlike and unreal mornings I’ve had at Hovdala. You know the feeling…when you never want to ”wake up” and never want this to end…
